Electrodynamic vibration systems

Are you looking for an electrodynamic vibrator solution? Look no further.

Vibrateurs Electrodynamiques TIRA

TIRA GmbH is a global leader in the design and manufacture of electrodynamic (ED) vibration systems. Since 1965, the company has manufactured electrodynamic systems for a wide variety of applications across all industrial sectors. TIRA systems, ranging in size and capacity from 9 N to 300 kN, are designed to meet, and often exceed, the demanding requirements of our customers and the industry.

Aspedyn offers and supports TIRA brand vibration systems. The range spans from 9N to 300kN, with air-cooled vibrators up to 70kN of force. Above this range, the systems are water-cooled.

In addition, specific electrodynamic vibrators are available for a wide variety of applications:

  • Calibration shakers are designed to have a wider frequency range and less transverse movement to provide a test bench suitable for sensor calibration.
  • Modal vibrators have improved guidance and a specific moving coil design with a single insert to allow rod connection for modal testing.
  • Inertial vibrators are equipped with very rigid suspension systems; the moving coil is fixed, so it is the body of the vibrator that performs the movement.
  • Long-stroke systems are capable of achieving a peak-to-peak displacement of 100 mm

We integrate high-quality, low-distortion power amplifiers and cooling systems into our vibrators to deliver the maximum performance you demand. TIRA also designs and manufactures horizontal tables and a wide variety of expanders, allowing you to have a single point of contact for your entire vibration test bench.

Power amplifiers

TIRA digital power amplifiers are specifically designed to deliver the desired force and maximize speed while executing a shock profile. The designs incorporate inherent safety features in each system to ensure that desired output levels are monitored at all times and to prevent damage to the agitator or amplifier during operation.

The power amplifiers, ranging from 11 to 240 kVA, are equipped with intuitive touchscreens offering state-of-the-art information and control for the user. If a remote control option is selected, this same touchscreen can be duplicated in a remote control room for the amplifier.

To achieve and maintain the required performance level, electrodynamic systems require a significant amount of energy. To limit energy consumption while optimally delivering the necessary power, TIRA incorporates the latest technology available on the market, utilizing its energy management system. This technology includes a field power reduction function and temperature monitoring to minimize the impact of heat on the electronics, keeping the system cool during operation.

We can also interface a TIRA amplifier to replace amplifiers in other agitation systems. We can interface it with an older TIRA system or a system not manufactured by TIRA. When these opportunities arise, please feel free to discuss your options with a member of our sales team. We are confident we can find a solution for you.

Customer Service

TIRA products are designed to provide our customers with the highest level of satisfaction for as long as possible. To maintain this level of satisfaction, we make every effort to ensure that your test bench is serviced in the best possible way. To guarantee quality service, our Aspedyn team is trained and qualified directly by TIRA at the Schalkau factory, and we maintain a stock of spare parts at our Voiron location.

Horizontal tables and expanders

TIRA manufactures high-quality horizontal tables ranging in size from 300x300mm to 2000x2000mm. These tables allow vibration testing along different axes without changing orientation or requiring complex and expensive mounting for the sample being tested.

If you already own a vertical vibrator, we can offer a "Minibase" table solution. This involves placing the vibrator with its original frame and the table module on a base support. If you require a complete system including a vibrator and table, we recommend integrating the components into a combo chassis. This solution allows you to assemble the vibrator and table into a single, robust, and rigid chassis design, eliminating any alignment issues. Our systems are also designed to minimize the time required to switch from vertical to horizontal position (typically less than 15 minutes).

Two main types of horizontal mobile table systems are available:

  • Oil film sliding tables, also known as low-pressure sliding tables, are constructed with a granite surface into which a magnesium plate is interfaced, maintaining a low-pressure oil film between the two assemblies. Lateral movement in this system is limited by a roller bearing system on the sides of the magnesium plate. This solution is ideal for small, low-mass specimens.
  • Hydrostatically guided sliding tables, also known as high-pressure sliding tables, operate similarly with granite surfaces and magnesium plates. Hydrostatic bearing assemblies are then integrated into the design to accommodate higher mass specimens. This solution allows for significantly higher moment values and is preferred for testing larger and more massive specimens. With this sliding table design, the table size, sample dimensions, and mass and test specifications are all considered in the design to determine the required number of hydrostatic bearings.

As TIRA manufactures and designs a full range of spreaders, we will also be able to specify a system that will take into consideration whether additional guidance and load compensation need to be incorporated for your specific solution.

As you may also need to perform vibration tests in combination with climate profiles, TIRA GmbH will offer different types of thermal barriers and temperature control options to meet a variety of applications.

TIRA GmbH (TIRA) is located in Schalkau, between Leipzig and Nuremberg, Germany. The company has been a global supplier of electrodynamic (ED) vibration testing systems since 1965. TIRA vibration systems have been sold worldwide: in Europe, Asia, and North and South America. TIRA's extensive global partner network is well-positioned to meet all your vibration system needs, wherever you are in the world.

TIRA has comprehensive manufacturing capabilities at its Schalkau plant. Their ability to weld, machine, and assemble complete systems and accessories allows them to control not only product quality but also the reliability that customers have come to expect over the past decades. These capabilities clearly distinguish TIRA from other companies designing vibration systems and contribute to strengthening their reputation as a leading provider of ED solutions in Europe and worldwide.

As customer and industry demands evolve rapidly, TIRA is constantly working to adapt to new requirements and provide not only standard vibration solutions but also customized vibration systems. The engineering team is continuously researching and developing the best solutions in materials, manufacturing techniques, modeling, and more to design the vibration system best suited to your application, even if it falls outside the standard range.
